"We have been left in darkness."

(Princess Sakina Mahal):
"We have been left in darkness."
“We have been left in darkness,” said Princess Sakina Mahal, whose family, as rulers of the Kingdom of Oudh (pronounced a-wadh),
The past few generations have been devastating to the House of Oudh (Oudh hose was initially used by Mugal emperor Firoz Sah Tuglak for Hunting), reducing it to this pair of middle-aged royals whose grasp on reality can seem as fragile as the rusting sign out front warning: “Intruders Shall be Gundown” (sic).Princess is living with some of his 12 Dogs (German Shepherd and Nepolian) they came to Delhi in 1975 and struggled for help form Govt. Queens family lived on New Delhi Stations (NDLS) VIP lounge for 10 yrs. after many attempts of request Indra Gandhi ( Prime minister of India ) gave her Malcha House at sardar patel marg. this abounded house was required for some repair but it never happened. Now this is a ruined house and somehow princess is managing there. The ceiling leaks in every rain, some of house portion is already collapsed.
Begum Vilayat Mahal committed suicide due to her situation. by this Princess Sakina went to depression and she and Ali Raza decided to stay in the dark of Malcha Mehal. She was married with Prince li Raza in the childhood. In Earlier 90's Princess looted many a times, their dogs poisoned and there precious treasure looted. Govt. should do something for this Royal family for there future.

  1. One of millions of tragedies of Mughal rule in India! Still, the government could have at least repaired the palace for them, instead of driving the begum (Princess Sakina's mother) to suicide and her children into depression.

  2. It was early morning time I went to Malch Mahal with my 6 friends on last Saturday. It was 4:00am we reached there still that Mahal is in arms of silenc and dark. It's really amazing to go there. They have two dogs with them. When we reached there and were standing in front of the Gate which is now fully rusted the dogs started Barking loudly so we didn't entered the Gate.

  7. Are these people working? Why they expect government to feed them and their numerous pets? We all work to earn for our needs, they must also labor it out like crores of fellow Indians.

  8. This is really a heart wrenching story. The two of them badly needs help ,we cannot blame them for their living condition. Why only the government has to look after this ,why not some NGO or good ppl come forward and get them out in this living world or help them feel safe where they live.Hope this two souls gets love and affection.

    1. Today, as informed by BBC, The Prince has died. very sad news. what about princess only God knows...

    2. The princess died 4 years ago. Apparently no one is left of their family/heirs and their possessions were looted upon the prince’s passing. No one claimed the prince’s body after several days so he was buried by the government. What a sad story.
He’d put out a table setting, and put out a glass of water for his longtime dead mother at dinner daily- He’d evidently done that the day he died. According to a reporter, algae sat in the water glass weeks after he died. Some things survived the looting to tell a very sad tale.

This story; their lives, I find fascinating and extraordinary sad. I wish more could/would have been done.

  15. While the English cherish their monarchy, we treat it with contempt. It's not what they are, but what they were and what they represent. What we lost is what they could have been
